We drive past many of the famous sights of London's West End, Royal Parks and Palaces, along elegant streets and see well-known buildings steeped in centuries of history. WESTMINSTER ABBEY* A guided visit is made to Westminster Abbey, where most British Kings and Queens since 1066 have been crowned. The final resting place of many monarchs, heroes and poets, this magnificent building is truly a centrepiece of London's history. THE CHANGING OF THE GUARD We travel along Whitehall past Downing Street, the Cenotaph, Trafalgar Square and Nelson's Column to Buckingham Palace, the London home of the Queen, to see The Changing of the Guard. If this is not scheduled we shall see the Household Cavalry in Whitehall. Our tour ends about 12.00 in Trafalgar Square - very convenient for shopping or further sightseeing. * Circumstances permitting - when Westminster Abbey is closed we shall make a scenic drive around other famous parts of London and visit the Tate Gallery or on Sundays your guide will be able to show you some of the hidden gems of London. |

Ripper. * Walk down a medieval street to follow the route of the Death Cart and hear the cry "bring out your dead" echo once more through the lanes of the old city. * Visit a plague pit where 50,000 victims of the 1348 Black Death lie restless still in their awful tomb. * Listen to excerpts of Shakespeare's plays and Dickens' novels set in the very places which we visit. * Follow the Jack the Ripper trail and visit the sites of selected murders. Hear about suspect after suspect and the grisly details. Learn the true identity of the Ripper. |
