| Day 2, Sun. ANCHORAGE. Drive to Portage Glacier to board the MV Ptarmigan. Enjoy stunning views ot the glacier on the morning lake cruise narrated by a National Forest service naturalist. Learn more about glaciology through the fascinating exhibits at the BEGICH BOGGS VISITORS CENTER. Continue to nearby Mount Alyeska with tree time to explore this resort area. Return to downtown Anchorage with the balance of the day at leisure. (B) |

| Day 3, Mon. ANCHORAGE-DENALI
NATIONAL PARK. Board the luxurious McKinley Explorer, with its elegant dome railcars, for a memorable journey on the Alaska Railroad. Sit back in comfort and enjoy the spectacular scenery through wide windows and a domed roof. Today's ride ends at DENALI NATIONAL PARK. North America's highest peak, 20,320-foot Mt. McKinley, dominates the park's 6 million acres of glacial streams, river valleys, and expanses of tundra. Lunch is served in the McKinley Explorer dining car. A chef is right on board to prepare delicious Alaskan specialties... all served on fine china. For this evening we suggest the optional "Wilderness Banquet" at an Alaskan cabin, where colorful characters bring to life the tales of an adventurous past. (B,L,D) |

| Day 4, Tue. DENALI NATIONAL PARK-
FAIRBANKS. Dress comfortably for an exciting six-hour wildlife expedition in Denali Park. An experienced guide takes you deep into the untamed wilderness. Watch for moose, grizzly bears, Dall's sheep, and caribou. Have your camera handy! This afternoon re-board the McKinley Explorer for the smooth ride via Nenana to Fairbanks. | Day 5, Wed. FAIRBANKS. Enjoy a cruise on the Chena and Tanana Rivers today aboard the sternwheel riverboat Discovery. Visit the gold camp at historic Gold Dredge #8. View mining exhibits, tour the gold dredge, and pan for gold. Lunch today is at the camp dining hall. (B,L) |

| Day 6, Thu. FAIRBANKS-DELTA JUNCTION-
DAWSON. Journey east on the famous Alaska Highway, built in less than two years during World War II. After a stop at Delta Junction to view the Trans-Alaska Pipeline, follow the Tanana River to the town of Tok, once the trading center of the Athabascan Indians. Evening arrival in Dawson, a hub of entertainment during the gold rush era. If you're up for some after-dinner fun, step into Diamond Tooth Gertie's, a rowdy saloon featuring ragtime music, can-can girls, and a western-style gambling room. (B,D) |

| Day 7, Fri. DAWSON. A fascinating list of sights on the morning tour: Bonanza Creek; Claim #1 — site of the first gold strike; Jack London's house; and a photo stop at the SS Keno, the last sternwheeler to run between Dawson and Whitehorse. Tonight you have reservations at the "Gaslight Follies," a variety show and melodrama typical of the entertainment enjoyed by turn-of-the- century miners. (B) |

| Day 8, Sat. DAWSON-WHITEHORSE. Head south through the town of Carmacks, an important supply station for gold seekers. After lunch in Minto proceed to the YUKON WILDLIFE PRESERVE, home to caribou, elk, bison, and moose. Evening arrival in Whitehorse, capital of the Yukon. This town was once the stopover point for the prospectors on their trek to the Klondike gold fields, and is now the headquarters of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. This evening we recommend the "Frantic Follies," a rousing vaudeville revue recapturing the spirit of the gold rush era. (B,L,D) |

| Day 9, Sun. WHITEHORSE-WHITE PASS &
YUKON ROUTE-SKAGWAY-CRUISING. Follow the Trail of '98, over the same mountains which thousands of determined gold seekers scaled on foot in the dead of winter while heading for the Klondike. Drive through the town of Carcross, where the very first prospectors - "Lying" George Carmacks and his two Indian friends, Tagish Charlie and Skookum Jim - now lie buried. Then board the antique cars of the narrow-gauge White Pass & Yukon Railroad for the scenic Journey over White Pass. Midday arrival in Skagway, Alaska's gateway to the Klondike gold rush. With a late evening sailing, there's plenty of time to browse along Broadway with its charming false-front buildings, wooden boardwalks, curio shops, and colorful saloons. Your sleek luxury cruise ship sets sail southward along the Lynn Canal, and this evening enjoy a lavish a-la-carte dinner. (B,L,D) |

| Day 10, Mon. CRUISING: GLACIER BAY. Cruise to Glacier Bay this morning. A naturalist will be on board to add to your understanding and appreciation of the area's natural phenomena. View awesome glaciers and massive icebergs floating in the bay. The serene calm may be broken by huge chunks of ice calving from the glacier face. Seals, eagles, moose, bears, and humpback whales can be spotted within these wildlife preserves. (B,L,D) |

| Day 11, Tue. CRUISING: KETCHIKAN. Today's port of call is Ketchikan, salmon capital of the world. Step ashore with plenty of time to explore the sights. Perhaps take the optional outing to Saxman Village, which boasts the largest collection of totem poles. (B,L,D) |

| Day 12, Wed. CRUISING: INSIDE PASSAGE. When it comes to cruising, Holland America Line has it down to an art. The MS Nieuw Amsterdam offers something for every taste: sporting activities, fitness center and spa, a sunny Lido deck and swimming pool. In the evenings enjoy fine dining Broadway revues, cabaret artists, live music, and dancing. | Day 13, Thu. ARRIVE VANCOUVER-SEATTLE. Early morning arrival in Vancouver. Clear Canadian Customs and board your motorcoach for a ride along the scenic coastal highway back into Washington State. First a stop at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport for tour members who have homebound flights. (Please do not schedule return flights earlier than 4 p.m.) The coach continues into downtown, where the tour ends at The Madison Renaissance Hotel. (B) |
